"Industry Recommended Practices

For

Tire Retreading & Tire Repairing"

This new document, which carries a revised date of June 7, 2001, supersedes the "Industry Standards For Tire Retreading & Repairing", which carried a revised date of September 1, 1995.

The content of this new document represents a consensus of substantially all segments of the tire retreading and tire repairing industry, including, but not limited to: International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA); Tire Association of North America (TANA); The Tread Rubber and Tire Repair Material Manufacturers Association (TRMG); Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA). **ITRA & TANA merged in 2003 and became TIA/Tire Industry of America.

The intent of this manual is to provide the reader with an understanding of many of the factors essential to the proper care and service of automobile, light truck, and medium truck tires. The warnings and cautions should not, under any circumstances, be ignored as they are real and applicable in all cases. However, the parties involved in developing and issuing these documents make no pretense that they are all inclusive; they do not eliminate the need for in-depth, hands-on training in such areas as: mounting/demounting; tire balancing; retreading/repairing; etc. Personnel performing these services should be professionally trained by persons qualified to conduct that training.
