Phil graduated from California State University –Long Beach in 1972. His career in the tire business started that same year joining General Tire & Rubber working in their distribution center in the San Francisco Bay Area as a warehouseman.
In 1974 he moved into the office working in customer service and then later out to a retail sales job in one of the General Tire company owned stores in downtown San Francisco.

Remaining in the Bay Area, Phil moved into the commercial tire business in 1978 joining John Perdue, and his new company Perdue Tire, as a commercial salesman. As Perdue Tire grew Phil moved into a new role managing a newly acquired store in Concord, CA and then moved back to the main store as manager in 1987.

Phil joined Oliver Rubber, headquartered at the time in Oakland, CA, in 1993 as a Region Fleet Sales Manager covering the 11 Western States. In 1994 Phil moved into a Region Sales Managers position with responsibility for sales in the four Western Territories. After Oliver was acquired by Cooper Tire in 1999 Phil accepted a new sales position and moved his family to the Cooper corporate office in Findlay, OH in 2001. In 2007 Oliver was sold to Michelin Tire, North America and Phil again relocated to the Michelin corporate office in Greenville, SC where he remains as Director of Marketing for Oliver.

Phil and his wife April have been married for 36 years and have three grown children and two grand children. In addition to TRIB, Phil is involved with another industry organization TRMG, also as Secretary.  Golf is a passion for Phil along with following the San Francisco 49ers long distance from his home on the East Coast.
